Chemical Process Industries

Chemical processes make up a lot of the different materials that we use on a daily basis in our modern world. While we may not take a lot of time to think about the items we use daily, they are a direct result of many different chemical reactions happening. Knowing which industries use the chemical processes can be imperative to understanding the world around us.

The chemical process industries are a broad term that will include a few options. Many industries will fit under the term of chemical process industries and some of them may surprise you. These include:

  • The traditional chemical industries. You will need to include both organic and inorganic in there. They will often spend their time exploring what will happen when you combine different chemicals and change up the situations that surround them, such as increasing the temperature.
  • The petroleum industry. Petroleum is full of great chemical reactions to consider.
  • The petrochemical industry. This is the industry that will produce most of the plastics, synthetic rubbers, synthetic rubber, and even natural-gas raw materials that we use. These are products that we often see in our modern world and many products that we enjoy have these synthetic materials in them without us even realizing. This is all created through chemical processes.
  • Other allied industries that may work with some of the options above to provide the services that we use today.

While these industries are going to fall under the realm of chemists and engineers who have a wide understanding of chemical processing and how different chemicals can work together, it can involve other specialists as well. For example, it is not uncommon to find that other specialists in the economic, engineering, and scientific field will work in chemical process industries to learn how to make more products in the future.
